Trying Traditional Finnish Christmas Foods

Today we were suppose to do a special diet menu in the kitchen that was most probably going to be the non-milk diet but our supervisor changed the plan after discussing and voting with the students and we all decided and agreed on cooking some of the traditional Finnish food items as well as to bake some cakes and Swiss Rolls for Silveria Restaurant and in addition  to that everybody gave the name of one food item he or she is going to prepare the next week before school ends ,anyways it was overall a fun day we enjoyed a lot in the kitchen and made some Smoked Salmon ,Fruit Cakes, Swiss Rolls,  Porkana Latikko (Carrot Casserole) , Lanttu Latikko (Swede Casserole), Puro Riisi (Rice Porridge) & a cold sauce with sour cream and fresh dill but we also had Pakistani style rice cooked with peas to serve. Have a look at some of the pictures from today below.
