Christmas Party & Holiday Season Celebrations

On the last day of your school we had the Christmas party or holidays celebration on which we had to prepare the ethnic food from our countries that we made for a group of Finnish students learning about different cultures and countries .We  were 6 people cooking that day who made the different kind of foods from different countries . For the starter we had the Pie with mushrooms tomatoes and onions from Albania, Along with that we had Focaccia Bread, Samosas and Calzone (fried cauliflower with crispy crest ), In the main course we had Beef Pulav rice with the yogurt & coriander sauce and some special kind of Kenyan mashed potatoes with mild spices and herbs,and finally  in the dessert we had Gulab Jamuns. Last Couple Of Days In Silveria Restaurant

Yesterday and day before yesterday were the last two days before we end our session for Silveria Restaurant this period and continue with our work practice outside the school in other Restaurants in the city, it was not too much students  but still we managed somehow and as they say '' All Is Well That Ends Well'' we went through this period finally . Trying Traditional Finnish Christmas Foods

Today we were suppose to do a special diet menu in the kitchen that was most probably going to be the non-milk diet but our supervisor changed the plan after discussing and voting with the students and we all decided and agreed on cooking some of the traditional Finnish food items as well as to bake some cakes and Swiss Rolls for Silveria Restaurant and in addition  to that everybody gave the name of one food item he or she is going to prepare the next week before school ends ,anyways it was overall a fun day we enjoyed a lot in the kitchen and made some Smoked Salmon ,Fruit Cakes, Swiss Rolls,  Porkana Latikko (Carrot Casserole) , Lanttu Latikko (Swede Casserole), Puro Riisi (Rice Porridge) & a cold sauce with sour cream and fresh dill but we also had Pakistani style rice cooked with peas to serve. Lactose Free Menu

Today we had the ''lactose free'' menu in special diets kitchen and the  menu  included caesar salad in starter , main course we had beef steak with bechamel & espagnol  sauces & fried potatoes and vegetables and  for the dessert we had the jelly pudding that we made out of vegetarian substitute for gelatin we also baked some bread for Silveria Restaurant.Today keeping in consideration our special diet ''lactose fee'' we used non lactose or low lactose products such as non lactose milk , margarine & soy milk in preparation of all the food items .
